YOUTH SPORTS HAVE GONE CRAZY!
People are losing their minds over kids games! People are being murdered, assaulted physically and emotionally at youth sporting events in America!
Verbal attacks on coaches, referees, student athletes and other parents have become commonplace occurrences at youth sporting events which were intended and designed to be fun for kids and their fans. The Peace Process for youth sports is a commonsense plan to reinforce the fun, educational qualities of kids sports. This plan works for all ages but this book will focus on high school sports because 73% of young people have quit playing by age 13. This book addresses why this is happening and possible solutions to keep sports appealing to student athletes.
Historically, youth sports teams in the US have provided a record number of opportunities for youngsters to participate in group athletics. Across the country, 45 million youth between the ages of six and eighteen participate in some form of organized sports. Seventy-five percent of all families in the US have at least one child participating in youth sports. Seventy percent of these athletes are quitting sports by age thirteen. Instead of making kids quit by age thirteen, sports should present a positive, peaceful, and fun activity for young people. At such a formative age, kids should be joining teams, not quitting them.
This PEACE Process book presents a plan to bring peace and cooperation to the youth sports experience in America. Parents, athletes, educators, coaches, and everyone (else who cares)—these are the groups that make up the PEACE Team (or PT). In this book I will attempt to offer an alternative ideology and together, I believe we can make a difference in the face of a youth sports scene in America. Way to frequently the sports have been marred by outrageous happenings at events meant to be enjoyable for children and their families. The PEACE Process provides a commonsense approach to getting these groups to work together more effectively. This cooperation will result in less stress, less drama, more peacefulness, and more fun.
This book will often use real-life stories to provide anecdotes to show how out of control youth sports have become in modern America. An increasing number of unruly supporters are ruining it for the majority of people who simply want to watch their kids play games in peace, and it needs to come to an end.
